Comedian, Wife and Mother of Triplets, "Lisa Gilbert" is Bringing Laughter to a Hurting World!

 Interview by: Gina Sedman

Hi Lisa! Where did it all begin for you? I’m a San Diego-based Comedian.  I have no real acting or stage background other than local talent shows as a kid. Over the past 6 years, I’ve been able to do two Indie Films, a TV commercial, and a lot of comedy.

Where are you from and how did you get started in the comedy industry? I was raised in San Diego. At 44 I got married and pregnant on my honeymoon with triplets! With so much instant material I couldn’t put off my dream any longer.  Since then, I have been in two Indie films and one commercial.  This was the start of a lifelong dream of becoming a Comedian.  I’ve always loved the stage and participated in talent shows, and acting classes as a young child. My ability to make people laugh, came naturally was natural to me.  But it wasn’t until I became a mother of three that I decided to try the Comedy stage. A fellow comedian offered me a spot on a show. I stepped into the light in April 2015 and never looked back. Here I am doing what I love.

What was your most memorable moment in your career? I received a standing ovation; unforgettable.  I’ve shared the stage with a personal hero Jay Leno.

What was your most challenging moment? Comedy/Life balance.  I’m a wife and mother first. Sometimes I’m not able to do all the shows. Sometimes it’s hard to be away from my kids for days at a time and still be excited about the opportunity to be on stage.

Who are your influences? I would say that local comedians who are working hard to create laughter inspire me.  Any help I can give newer comedians find their voice drives me, and there have been many who have done the same for me.

If you could do a show with them and or have someone, write a joke for you, who would it be? If I had to choose a comedian to do a show with, that person would be, Dave Chapelle.  I just feel like he would be real with me.  I love his honest approach to comedy. I admire his ability to be genuine. So yes, that person would be Dave Chapelle.

What was your most embarrassing moment while at a live performance or interview? As of today, I am grateful to say that I haven't had any embarrassing moments on stage. Things have pretty much gone smoothly. Whew!

What are your weird habits or traditions before performing live on stage? I air-box to my own internal theme music before I go on stage.

What advice would you like to give to upcoming comedians? I think it's very important to record every set and listen to the areas of my show where there is laughter and laughter. This helps me to evaluate my show to find things that work and don't work.

"John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him."

"Romans 10:9-13  9 [f]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10for with the heart a person believes, [g]resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [h]resulting in salvation.

11 For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE [i]PUT TO SHAME.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13for “EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”
