Boss Lady, "Elsie Romero Dewegeli" Wins the Hearts of Her Clients One Beauty Service at a Time!

Interview By: Gina Sedman

What an honor to have the opportunity to interview this amazing gem of the Coachella Valley! She is fierce, talented, and beautiful both in and out! I chose to feature this amazing boss woman because of her determination and dedication to becoming a powerhouse in her field and a great example for young women to model after! Check out what she told The Indie Post about her business journey and the keys to her success!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? My name is Elsie Romero Dewegeli and I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist in southern California for 14 years. I have lived in the Coachella Valley for 27 years. I am a mom to 4 beautiful children, a wife, a blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu, love of baking, and cake decorating.

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and your business? How would you describe your services? I am an independent contractor within a large full-service salon and medical spa. I offer hairstyling, color, hair extensions, color corrections, hair extensions, nail services, eyelash extensions, spray tanning, facials, and luxury scalp treatments.

When did you decide to start your own business and why? I became an independent contractor in 2017 and expanded in 2020. I was ready to take on more in my life. My kids are older now, which gives me more time to pursue my dreams.

What would you say is the secret to a successful business? Going all in and a lot of prayers. I pray a lot about making decisions in my life. Running a business requires a lot of wisdom and discernment. I pray for both and let God lead the way.

Have you ever felt like you wanted to give up?  Yes, but if I gave up, I would never know how far I could go or what I am capable of doing, and that scares me more than the possibility of failure or not moving forward.

What was the biggest challenge that you have experienced owning your own business?  I think the answer is the same for so many, COVID. I expanded during COVID and we are still no closer to having any answers to how to move forward.

Have you ever experienced negativity from those closest to you? Family or friends? How would you encourage those who are experiencing negativity to power through?  Yes, both family and friends, I don’t think people mean to be negative. I ask for advice from family and friends just to get a different perspective. At the end of it, I weigh it all out and make the ultimate decision. You must follow your heart, or you’ll never know what you could have accomplished.

What are your future goals regarding your business?  The valley is growing, and I want to grow with it. I’m taking small steps to keep growing and there can be no limit to that.

What advice would you give new business owners?  If you decide to open your own business, make sure it’s what you love and are passionate about because you will be spending a lot of time there.

Are there any success quotes you’ve adopted, that you now live by, that you want to share to encourage others? “If your dreams don’t scare you, they are too small” by Richard Branson.

Disclaimer: The Bible scriptures posted below by The Indie Post, taken from The New American Standard Version Bible Verse, are not the words of the above interviewee.

"John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him."

"Romans 10:9-13  9 [f]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10for with the heart a person believes, [g]resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [h]resulting in salvation.

11 For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE [i]PUT TO SHAME.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13for “EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”
