Hollywood Director Brad Silverman, known for Grace Unplugged & Selfie Dad Teams with Kappa Studios!

Interview By: Gina Sedman

Tell us about who you are and a little bit about your background. My name is Brad Silverman, and I have been working as an independent filmmaker for fifteen years. I grew up in the SF Valley of Los Angeles and initially pursued stand-up comedy and acting. However, my life took a significant turn when I found Jesus Christ. Although I thought I was heading towards full-time ministry, God had other plans for me. Eventually, I discovered my passion for writing and directing films, and I have since worked on projects such as Grace Unplugged and Selfie Dad. Recently, I collaborated with Paul Long from Kappa Studios to assist other faith and family film and TV creators in various aspects of post-production and distribution. Tell us about your business. What services do you offer? Kappa Studios is a comprehensive post-production facility that offers a wide range of services. As a long-time client, I have found it to be the best post-production facility available. With services like color grading, sound packages, trailers, VFX, animation, deliverables, and quality control, Kappa Studios is a one-stop shop for all post-production needs. Their unique blend of creative and marketing expertise makes them an excellent resource for faith and family content creators. Furthermore, Kappa Studios can help with distribution, making it easier to find a home for your project.

What would you say is the secret to a successful business? Prayer and hard work. Paul and I start each morning with 30-45 minutes of prayer and searching the scriptures – we share what God is teaching us through His Word. We often pray that God will bring in the business we need – then we strategize and work as hard as we can.

Have you ever felt like you wanted to give up? Not really any feelings of giving up per se, but on many occasions, we’ve been drawn to radical dependence on God. Plus, there has been such joy in helping other filmmakers succeed that we stay motivated.

Have you ever experienced negativity from those closest to you? Family or friends? I have been beyond blessed with supportive family and friends. My wife of 22 years has been my biggest fan and encourager – yet she still holds me accountable to keep my priorities straight. My friends, as well, are encouraging. I truly am blessed.

How would you encourage those who are experiencing negativity to power through? For me, it’s all about my relationship with God. My identity can never be in my work or business accomplishments – though, at times, I allow wrong thinking to creep in and find my value in my successes and failures. Thankfully I have a few people in my life (beginning with my wife) who will tell me the truth when my thinking starts to drift toward the negative.

What are your future goals regarding your business? We just want to help and bless other content creators who want to use their talents and resources to honor God and make quality, family and faith-friendly entertainment. We’re not trying to conquer the world, we just want to be faithful stewards of the business that God has given us. We always want to remember that all we have is His – as opposed to our own.

Are there any success quotes you’ve adapted that you now live by that you want to share to encourage others? The Bible has everything we need for life and godliness – and that includes business. How we are to work, how we are to treat one another, treat employees, clients, etc. are all spelled out in the Scriptures. Our job is to be faithful.

END OF INTERVIEW

Disclaimer: The Bible scriptures posted below by The Indie Post, taken from The New American Standard Version Bible Verse, are not the words of the above interviewee.

"John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him."

"Romans 10:9-13  9 [f]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10for with the heart a person believes, [g]resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [h]resulting in salvation.

11 For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE [i]PUT TO SHAME.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13for “EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”
