South London's "Akin Soul" Debut Single" I Want You" Hits Big!
Tell me a little bit about your background. Where are you from and how did you get started in music?
I am a Soul/Jazz multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter from South London. I play keys, guitar and trombone. I’ve always loved music and I feel as if I have been invested in it from birth. I do remember getting into the genre of soul at the age of 12, that’s when I started to really attach myself to soulful music.
What was your most memorable moment in your music career?
My most memorable moment was a weird gig at Pop Brixton when the sound system had been shut down whilst me and the Soul Tribe were singing but everyone was still singing my song in the crowd with me. That was powerful and beautiful for me.
What was your most challenging moment?
My most challenging moment in my musical career was facing my previous managers who were very damaging to my art and career. They didn’t have the same vision as me, I almost lost my faith and my love for music as I was being forced to do other genres and types of music that I genuinely didn’t want to do. For a while after, I couldn’t write as I could hear their voices telling me that what I was writing was wrong. Eventually I rebuilt my faith.
Who are your musical influences?
Kim burrell, Lalah Hathaway, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Omar, Corinne Bailey Rae, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughn, Amy Winehouse, Ella Fitzgerald and Betty Carter!

Amy WInehouse!!!!
Whats the last song your listened to by another artist and who are your present favorite?
The last song I listened to by another artist was ‘Terrace Martin – Think of you’. Some names I’m listening to at the moment: Omar, Sasha Keable, Rueben James and Cleo Sol.
What was your most embarrassing moment while at a live performance or interview?
I fell off the stage after a gig at Newcross Amersham Arms lol!
How many singles/albums do you have out presently how out and are there any projects in the works?
1 single just recently came out but I have plenty of other projects for the future that I’m working on. This is the beginning!
What are your either weird habits or traditions before performing live or recording?
Drinking water, meditating, I always somehow yawn before every performance no matter the time. It’s the nerves that get me yawning lol..
What advice would you like to give to upcoming artist?
Believe in yourself and everything that you do, don’t always compare yourself to what other people are doing as you are on your own pathway. Find what your success is and find who you are by staying true to yourself. Remember that you change too!
On the 3rd of May, he will be releasing my first single ‘I Want You’ on main plat-forms, along with a music video.
